The following travel guide is based on the travels of frequent traveler, Jason (check out his travel socials @xplore_globe ) who spent a week and a half in New Zealand over the September school holidays with his wife and five year old daughter.
What to see and do
Roadtrip
Fly into Queenstown, giving yourself a few days to explore the local area. From Queenstown, drive to Fairlee (stopping by Wanaka). From Fairlee, drive to Mount Cook to enjoy the snow. From Mount Cook, drive to Christchurch.
Fernberger
Fernbeger has been voted as the best bakery in Queenstown and was recommended by Jason as a must eat whilst in New Zealand
Christchurch Farmers Market
The markets happen every Saturday from 9am-12pm and showcase a range of produce, foods and goods.
Franz Josef Glacier
This 12km glacier was unfortunately inaccessible due to roadworks during Jason’s trip and was their original itinerary but will be the reason they will return to New Zealand to tick of their list.
Where to stay
Jason and his family stayed in AirBnbs for the majority of their trip but finished their trip with a stay at the Hilton in Christchurch
